3DLevelScanner Standard
(3)The BinMaster 3DLevelScanner uses non-contact, dust-penetrating technology to provide unsurpassed bin volume accuracy. Unlike single point devices, it works by measuring multiple points within the bin accounting for irregular material topography. This advanced acoustics-based technology is proven to perform in powders and bulk solids contained in tanks, silos, warehouses, as well as open bins and piles. It is ideal for food processing, pharmaceuticals, or chemicals where contact with the material being measured must be avoided. Its unique 3D mapping capabilities provide a visual representation of bin contents, detecting cone up or down as well as sidewall buildup.
BinMaster was first to the North American market with 3DLevelScanner technology. Since March of 2009, BinMaster has installed hundreds of 3DLevelScanners across the continent in diverse applications including the grain, bioenergy, cement, aggregates, wood, power and plastics markets.
BinMaster is the only company in the US with an in-house dedicated 3D sales and technical staff vastly experienced in specifying, installing and servicing this advanced technology. When it comes to 3D technology, no other company in North America has more expertise than BinMaster.

3DLevelScanner for High Temperatures
(3)The 3DLevelScanner HT is designed to measure the level and estimate the volume in storage silos containing challenging materials such as clinker, alumina, frac sand and fly ash. This model of the 3DLevelScanner has an operating temperature range of up to 356°F (180°C) to accommodate higher temperatures that may be present when material that has been heated in the production process is conveyed into storage silos. The 3DLevelScanner HT is ideal for use in the cement, aluminum, mining and power industries where there are multiple challenges such as dust or high humidity and very large silos where the material surface in the bin may be uneven and difficult to measure.
In the manufacturing process, materials such as clinker, alumina, frac sand or fly ash may be conveyed into the silo when they are still relatively hot. The 3DLevelScanner HT is designed to withstand these higher temperatures while maintaining a high level of measurement accuracy, unlike some non-contact devices that are prone to becoming unreliable in harsh environments. The 3DLevelScanner has been proven to perform in a wide variety of materials including heavy lump material like clinker, fine granular materials like alumina oxide or silica sand, or powdered materials such as fly ash.

3DLevelScanner with Teflon Coated Transducer
(3)The Teflon coated antenna is an option for the 3DLevelScanner that is used in extreme conditions when dust or powdered materials cling to the device and interfere with the acoustic pulses of the 3DLevelScanner. Teflon has one of the lowest coefficients of friction against any solid, resulting in a slick surface that resists buildup. Use of the Teflon horn prevents dusty or sticky material from building up on the antenna, ensuring optimal performance by the 3DLevelSCanner. Use of the Teflon-coated antenna also reduces the frequency for cleaning the antenna, prolonging the maintenance cycle.
Some examples of applications for the Teflon-coated antenna include soybean meal, which tends to be very sticky and can build up on a standard antenna, especially under humid conditions. Flour or dry milk are another dusty materials that can clog an antenna. Sugar powder, although not problematic as flour or dry milk, is a sticky material that can interfere with antenna effectiveness over time. Using a Teflon-coated antenna significantly extends the interval between cleanings in all types of dusty, sticky materials.

3D Multiple-Scanner System
(6)If the application is for a very large bin, tank or silo – the BinMaster MVL multiple-scanner system will provide greater inventory accuracy than a single 3DLevelScanner. The MVL system integrates the multiple point measurement data from two or more 3DLevelScanners to cover a very wide surface area which makes it able to estimate inventory volume with greater accuracy than previously available from any level measurement device. Using advanced processing and software, the MVL also displays a visual representation of the material surface that shows high and low points in the bin such as cone up, cone down, sidewall buildup or bridging.
In an MVL system, two or more scanners are mounted on the top of the vessel in locations optimized to most effectively cover the entire surface area of the material being measured. The scanners take multiple measurements of the material surface using dust-penetrating, acoustic-based technology.
A controller combines the data from the two scanners and generates a single merged visual representation of the topography of the material and displays the image on a PC loaded with the 3D Vision software. The MVL provides diverse data including estimated volume; minimum, maximum and average distances to material in the bin; as well as a synchronized 4-20 mA output to a PLC or DCS.
Features:
• Significantly increases inventory accuracy in very large, wide silos
• Two or more scanners optimally located to effectively cover the entire surface area
• Multiple scanners continuously measure and map the material surface
• Controller synchronizes data and creates single 3D visual of contents
• Software estimates volume and provides minimum, maximum and average distances to material

RL Acoustic Level Sensor
(3)The BinMaster RL is designed to provide highly reliable level data in challenging environments where dust levels are extremely high. The non-contact, continuous level sensor works in powders and solid materials of all types. Unlike some types of non-contact level sensors, the BinMaster RL can be used in very low dielectric materials which historically have not been compatible with non-contact devices. Although the RL looks just like the S, M and MV 3DLevelScanner, it is different because the purpose of the RL is level data only.
It performs better in dust compared to other technologies, such as ultrasonic. It uses acoustics-based technology at very low frequencies, which allows it to penetrate dust. Another unique quality of the BinMaster RL is that it is self-cleaning and requires very little maintenance unlike other non-contact technologies that require manual cleaning of the sensor which entails frequent climbing of silos, which can be a safety hazard.
The BinMaster RL is designed to be easy to program and simple to maintain. A “quick-start” guide allows the RL to be configured directly from a screen on the head of the device or alternatively, from a PC. The RL outputs a 4-20 analog signal for simple connection to an existing control system or display module.
This non-contact level sensor is an economical choice when non-contact technology is required to prevent contamination in environments such as food manufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical processing. It is also ideal when any operation wants to eliminate the risk of a contact device that might break off and damage or get caught in equipment that might be present on the bottom of a silo, such as a sweep or conveyor.
Features:
• Dust-penetrating, non-contact technology
• Acoustics-based, continuous level indicator
• Works in powdered and solid materials
• Performs in low dielectric materials
