BM-T Tilt Switch
(3)
The BinMaster Tilt Switch is a versatile, cost-effective level indicator that can be used in a wide variety of applications and materials. Activating an alert when the device tilts at least 15 degrees, it is used to detect high levels of large, heavy materials in bins, tanks and silos. Alternatively, it can be used to detect plugs or clogs in chutes during process operations. The tilt switch features a simple, mechanical design that allows it to also be used as a load sensor when positioned over open piles or conveyor belts.
The tilt switch is installed over a desired control point using a wire rope, chain or other flexible hanger capable of supporting the device. Generally, an optional paddle extension is installed to increase the sensitivity of the tilt switch. When tilted at least 15 degrees, a steel ball inside of the device activates a microswitch, alerting the user to a high level or clogged status.
Features:
• Economical high level point detection
• Rugged construction and easy installation
• Simple design with one moving part
• Switch activated at 15 degrees
• Stainless steel paddle or plastic sphere options available
Specifications:
• Switch Ratings: 15 Amps @ 125 or 250 VAC, 1/8 HP @ 125 VAC, 1/4 HP @ 250 VAC, 1/2 Amp @ 125 VDC, 1/4 Amp @ 250 VDC
• Operating Temp: -40°F to +300°F (-40°C to +149°C)
• Mounting: Suspended by flexible hanger
Applications:
• Reliable high level detection for dense bulk solids
• Used in bins, vessels, chutes, silos or over conveyors and open pits where conventional level devices cannot be mounted
• Material density of 15 lb./cu. ft. and greater
• Grain, sand, gravel, concrete, aggregates, coal and many other materials

BM-TSM Mercury-Free Tilt Switch
The BM-TSM is an innovative, patent-pending tilt switch used for high level detection of powders and bulk solids. The new BM-TSM tilt switch mounts on the top of the bin and activates an alarm when material rises and tilts the switching mechanism 15 degrees. The shaft of the tilt switch is custom-made in lengths from one foot up to eight feet in length, dependent upon the distance from the top of the bin an alert should be activated. The BM-TSM is available with either a paddle or sphere mounted at the end of the shaft and can be used in materials with a bulk density of at least 15 pounds per cubic foot.
This unique tilt switch can be used as an alternative to a top-mounted rotary level indicator and is suitable for a wide range of solid materials in most any industry. The simple, mechanical design is rugged and operates reliably in a wide range of temperatures and is tough enough to withstand the harshness of granules and lump solid materials. The protective boot protects the tilt mechanism and ensures long operational life. The BM-TSM is easy to install through a 1-1/4” NPT process connection on the roof of the bin and sends an alert status to a horn, light or control panel.
Features:
• Mercury-free, easy to install and operate
• Activates an alarm when material rises and tilts the switching mechanism 15 degrees.
• Shafts in custom lengths from 1 foot up to 8 feet
• Available with either a paddle or sphere
• Dual conduit entries for easy wiring
• Installs through a 1-1/4” NPT process connection
• Sends an alert status to a horn, light or control panel
Applications:
• High level detection of powders and bulk solids in bins, tanks and silos.
• Mounts on the top of the bin as an alternative to an extended rotary
• For materials with a bulk density of at least 15 lb./cu. ft.
Model CT Tilt Level Control
(26)
The NEW Model CT comprised of a Control Unit and Tilt Probe senses the presence or absence of material. The new intrinsically safe, UL Listed Control Unit is enclosed in rugged cast aluminum housing with LED Indicator lights and surface mount printed circuit board. Weatherproof, Dust-Ignition Proof and Explosion Proof models are available. The rugged steel sensing Probes are UL listed as intrinsically safe when used with the new Model CT Control Units CT-105, CT-106 and CT-107.
The Model CT is commonly used when other controls won't work due to bin vibration, or actual bin walls aren't available for mounting other controls. Typical applications include level detection in hoppers, silos, stackers, crushers and conveyor transfer points.
Technical Specifications:
• Durable cast aluminum NEMA Type housing with externally visible LED Indicator lights.
• General-purpose controllers are rated NEMA Type 4, 4X - weatherproof and corrosion resistant.
• Dust-Igntion Proof controllers are rated NEMA Type 4, 4X; NEMA Type 9 Class II, Groups E, F and G - Hazardous Locations.
• Explosion Proof controllers are rated NEMA Type 7 Class I, Groups C and D; NEMA Type 9 Class II, Groups E, F and G - Hazardous Locations.
• Surface Mount printed circuit board.
• The controllers have a dry, unpowered relay rated for 5A @ 120 VAC and 240 VAC.
• The ambient temperature must not exceed 104°F (40°C).
• 9" heavy duty and 6" compact mild/carbon steel probes available. 304 stainless steel is optional.
• Allows up to 5,000 feet of cable length between Control Unit and Probe.
• Special float balls and paddles are available for use in fine grained bulk material to assist in tilting the probe.
• Tilt Probes are Intrinsically Safe and UL Listed when used in conjunction with the New Model CT Control Units: CT-105, CT-106 and CT-107.
